Hello Members,

I hope the year 2016 is going well for everyone. On the ATER side, things started with a lot of professional development activities as usual. Here is the January updates on ATER’s work.
The Communities of Practice (CoPs) workshops have already started with Kicukiro, Muhanga and Ngoma CoPs getting their first round of training. Huye and Kayonza are next. If any of you is in the area and would like to participate in any of these workshops, please let us know. I have attached the every the first round of workshops schedule for those of you interested in taking part in the next trainings.
On the 22-23 January, ATER hosted the East African Teachers Association Assembly bringing together English Teachers Association leaders from 7 other countries in the region. More on what happened during the two day conference can be found in the attachment entitled 2016 ELTA Proceedings. Thanks Leanne for putting everything together to generate the proceedings.
The first ATER newsletter is to be out sooner than later! Watch out for a lot of professional development, teaching tips and technics that can help you a better you, professionally. Robert is working very hard to get the newsletter out.
Finally, the preparations for the 2016 ATER annual conference have started. A call for abstracts is now on ATERwebsite http://aterw.org/call-for-presentation-ater–conference-2016/ . If you would like to present during the conference and need some help getting your presentation ready, let us know! ATER would be happy to have many of its members present and we’ll have a team ready to help you prepare your presentation if you would like to. Also, please feel free to contactATER leadership if you would like to participate in the preparations. The conference can’t be a success unless we all take part!
